A Busy Weekend

Saturday included soccer and swimming lessons. Sunday brought the first ever session of Sunday school. Oh, and there was a little tv watching in between.

First Day of School

Today, Madeleine and Isabel started their second year at St. David's, a wonderful preschool located just minutes from our home. Last year, they were in the toddler room, and they had a fabulous experience. I cannot believe how much they grew and learned and developed over the course of nine months. Last fall, they were just babies, and now they are definitely big girls with big ideas, big vocabularies, and big opinions. We love it! This year they have graduated to the three-year-old room, and we are looking forward to another great year.

Maddie and Ibby will be attending three mornings a week, up from two days last year. Here are a few pictures of them before we left for school this morning.

Maddie has grown three inches since last fall...Ibby not so much!

Excited, excited, excited for a brand new year, new room, and new teachers!

Bye bye, Daddy!

And we're off! Here's looking forward to the 2010-2011 school year!

Some Highlights of Summer

Summer is far from over. Well, according to yesterday's paper, there are only 44 days left, which isn't nearly enough in my opinion, but right now it feels like we still have a lot of time left before the snow flies. Before too much more of it gets away from us, I thought I should post just a few pictures of some of the things we've been up to thus far.

One Year Ago

One year ago on this date, we brought Miss Madeleine home from China, and our family of four was whole.

Time is a funny thing. On the one hand, I can't believe how fast the past year has gone. On the other hand, it feels like Maddie has been with us forever. Hearing her language develop and watching her dynanmic personality emerge over the past several months has been a true delight, and witnessing the ever growing love between Maddie and Isabel has many times brought me to tears. Just last weekend, they were hugging each other, each saying, "This is my sister! This is my sister."

We aren't going to mark the day in any special way. Well, that's not actually true. We did do something new and interesting today. The girls have their first t-ball game on Tuesday night, so we spent some time outside this morning playing catch, the girls sporting their brand new baseball gloves. From the looks of things, Tuesday night ought to be very, very interesting and most certainly entertaining.

And now, an apology. I have been the worst blogger. I keep meaning to post pictures and anecdotes about our two girls, but honestly, time gets away from me every single day. We've had a busy summer thus far, and I can't seem to find a spare minute or ten to post some updates. I promise to be better. I don't know if there is anyone out there who's still tuning in...well, except for Grandma Sandy...but I promise, promise, promise to get some pictures and perhaps even some video up very soon, like this week. For sure.
